| Crash Test - Mercedes Benz Commercial, There hasn't been a single vehicle built since the 70's that can withstand much more than a slow impact enough to deploy the air bags (which are NO replacement for a solidly built car !)! There's a reason why they don't install airbags and chinzy little lap/shoulder belts in race cars ? On the other hand why do they build race and Police cars with roll-cages and frame reinforcements and not on civilian vehicles? How is it that race car drivers usually survive crashes at speeds around 200 mph, when the consumer is lucky to survive an impact at 50 mph and being hit in the face with air-bags. |
